Varjo - Mixed Reality Prototype

This project was made in early 2018 to test and showcase the mixed-reality features of the Varjo XR-1 headset, which at the time was only a prototype. The technology allowed to combine fully immersive virtual-reality environment with augmented-reality projections in the same headset, a remarkable achievement for the XR technology to this day.

How I've participated in this project:

For this project I've acted as a manager and generalist developer, coordinating ZOAN art team to create the high-quality 3D assets and being the sole developer from the art side to setup the overall experience in the game engine. My work included the following:

• Managed and directed the 3D Production Team.
• Set-up the virtual environment in the game engine, including the lighting and 3D assets.
• Coded the Front-End layer of the experience in C#, creating events and commands for the filming crew to tweak the real-time footage as they saw fit.
• Prototyped the experience inside the game engine to validate the overall script before the film crew actually recorded the real-time footage.

Other tasks such as the video filming and the integration of the virtual cameras to the headset were in the hands of a 3rd party company and the internal Varjo team, both who I've worked side-by-side for a couple of months to deliver this project.
